The River. Poem by Michael Walker

The River.

I saw Cambridge win
the 1975 boat race against Oxford.
Many months downstream
in my life at Sunbury
I watched the Thames flow.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I saw the university eights boat raceon the Thames through London all that time ago. Later, I worked and lived at Sunbury-on-Thames, close to the Thames, which I would watch flow by endlessly, bringing peace. Like meditation.

I agree wholeheartedly that watching a river flow by is calming meditative experience. The boat race must have been a thrilling sight to observe.
