The Room That I Ever Miss! Poem by Namita Rani Panda

The Room That I Ever Miss!

That room of 16' by 14' I ever crave for
with a book shelf, a study table and two chairs,
With a rack for hanging clothes and a mirror
and a wooden cot that with my sister I had to share.

Every night there was a battle
To decide the line of control
In between Kunusthan and Munusthan
But in the morn, there was no trace of the partition
We would find sleeping peacefully in each other's arm
And to a corner that line of control being thrown.

Now we're well settled in far off places
I miss those fights and long for warm embraces
Though I sleep on cosy Kurlon matress
And sit comfortably in executive chair to refresh
I can never sleep that peaceful sleep again
The memory of which fills my heart with endless pain!
