The Rose - A Sonnet Poem by Gayathri Seetharam

The Rose - A Sonnet

The Rose - A sonnet
-Gayathri B. Seetharam
The beauty of a rose is expressed in a sonata
Its soft petals and lovely appearance are expressed in an allegro
Its varied colours bring out the beauty of a presto
Its importance in society is symbolised by the allegro moderato
The scent of a rose is in an adagio
If Shakespeare said: What's in a name?
A rose by any other name would smell as sweet
I say that a rose has a simply adorable scent
Which is made special by Mozart's adagio
And a rose has an use in its beauty
It is of extreme decorative value
And a bouquet of red roses say, I love you
If in Hindu weddings, a red rose symbolises the wedding night's love
In Jewish and Christian weddings, a white rose says I take you, for better or for worse.

A very beautiful Sonnet, a bit different than that of Shakespeares's, Shakespeare's sonnets are written predominantly in a meter called iambic pentameter, a rhyme scheme in which each sonnet line consists of ten syllables. But know, dear Gayathri that I admire the words in your gorgeous Sonnet and The Rose is my fav.flower, And I am a music lover too. Love to read the info about the red rose, especially in Hindu weddings WOW!
