The Russian Ghost Fleet Poem by Tor Magnor Solvang

The Russian Ghost Fleet

Ships that hide, a silent stream,
Breaking rules, a secret dream.
To sell their oil, a hidden way,
To dodge the world, come what may.

Old ships they use, with signals gone,
Changing course, from dusk till dawn.
To get their goods to lands afar,
Beneath a different guiding star.

The sea grows risky, a worried frown,
For spills and harm, all over town.
And whispers rise, a darker fear,
Of hidden plans, drawing near.

Some friends they find, in distant shores,
Who open ports, and ask for more.
In lands of sun, where money flows,
Through hidden deals, that no one knows.

The ships still sail, to east and south,
To nations keen, to take the mouth
Of oil that flows, a steady beat,
To lands that meet, and find it sweet.
