The Same Old Cadence Poem by DEEPAK KUMAR PATTANAYAK

The Same Old Cadence

Wake up;
Welcome the day,
With frown or grin,
And lost in day’s routine,
The same old cadence,
Ringing loud in my ear,
When I am on the way,
To my working place,
Coming across,
The same street,
The same light post,
The same face,
And in a second
Lost in human race,
To reach the goal
Prefixed and decided,
No change of taste,
The monotony,
And the money,
Playing their best,
Leaving no moment,
To think, live
Higher purpose of life
And hope to consecrate,
Looking back, I sigh
And muse upon life’s object,
To be born and dissolved,
Into same old dust
Generations have testified,
Oh God, this life is yours,
Blessed with pain and pleasure,
Spare some moment for me,
So that I could see you,
Love you, worship you,
Before this flickering flame
Extinguished,
The bubble vanished,
And the flower perished……..
