The Shriving Pew Poem by Unnikrishnan Sivasankara Menon

The Shriving Pew

Rating: 5.0

A priest sits on
the other side of
the shriving pew
And I on this side.
I have been told
the priest represents You
And all my sins
I confess to him
I am pardoned of,
by You.

But, tell me O' God
Have You not sinned
By giving me life?
To whom would you confess
And who can pardon you
Of this grave sin?

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

Man is the gravest sin! He will betray you, oh! God, for thirty silver coins. He will the food of a starving child, to sate his hunger.
