The Shroud Of Turin (Sonnet) Poem by Tamara Beryl Latham

The Shroud Of Turin (Sonnet)

Rating: 5.0

Did He anticipate that we may find
solutions to the bloody imprint He
laid down upon the cloth, unless we're blind
and can't discern the truth? Is what we see

an artist's painting touched with ochre red
or blood that's real, but has not oxidized?
Did science find a man who's long been dead,
and gave us proof that He was brutalized?

The linen weave entwined with cotton may
have skewed the carbon dating some opine,
but skeptics say it's just a fake and they
doubt that its pollen came from Palestine.

Will we know soon the truth about the Shroud
or must we wait ‘til every knee has bowed?

Very good Shakespearean Sonnet. I voted 5 stars in spite of a missing syllable in line 12, and I think you need 'show' instead of 'shown' in line 8. I enjoyed reading this.

Thanks, Kim. I corrected line 12 of that quatrain to include the additional word 'that.' I can't believe I made that error.. I'm elated you enjoyed the sonnet. I appreciate your having taken the time to read and comment. : -)
