The Smile That Lied A Thousand Times Poem by Phillip Alan Green

The Smile That Lied A Thousand Times

Rating: 5.0

Her lips once fresh and long and wide,
But underneath she hid the lies,
I didn't know then of her cheating crime,
The smile that lied a thousand times.

My battered heart will take time to heal,
It knows not now, what is real,
The world now seen in black and white,
Through endless days and sleepless night.

She's a single mum; Is it what she derserves?
To think that she still had the nerve,
To lay all the blame upon my door,
And still she asked for more.

She took almost all I had,
She took the right that I'm a Dad,
And the trust and love that quickly died,
She could not take my pride.

Day by day as I move on,
When pain and crying have long gone,
And no more thinking of her again,
I know I'll smile again.
