Silent white mantle covering
Everything on the scene outside
As cars squelch by
While on the edge of the window sill
Sits a grassless grasshopper
Legs held high
Unwilling to take
That leap of faith
His barbed limbs cling tight
Eying me an alien wraith
As we both remember
Much sunnier skies
