Her mind and spirit descend
from the wobbly perch.
Not of desire does she depart,
but rather circumstances
beyond her control, or so it seems,
launch her to the hardened earth.
Her cross roads is to sojourn and
risk a permanent residence,
or remount. She chooses the latter
after her consternation subsides.
She is well aware she will revisit
this lowly place again and again,
yet she refuses to loiter.
The commonalities that exist have
diminished and she is no longer
interested in a rekindled relationship.
Her mind is transformed.
She resumes her journey never
looking back but ever mindful of
the snares.
