The Song Of Rivers Poem by Mohammad Younus

The Song Of Rivers

Rivers never flow backward—
they are the pulse of time,
ever moving forward,
etching their stories into the earth.
'Forget the past, ' they whisper,
'the only way is onward.'
So too, the river of existence.

When mountains rise,
rivers do not rage or break;
they bend, they curve,
finding another way.
Obstacles are not walls,
but invitations to adapt,
to flow with grace, not force.
So too, the river of existence.

You cannot cross a river
without feeling its cool embrace,
without letting its waters touch your skin.
Life, too, demands immersion—
joy and sorrow,
light and shadow,
all part of the current.
To live is to be both brave and yielding,
to move with the rhythm of the unseen tide.
So too, the river of existence.

Rivers need no push,
no guiding hand.
They move by an inner force.
So too, let your work be your own,
unburdened by the weight of others' hands.
Flow with purpose,
not permission.
So too, the river of existence.

The deeper the river,
the quieter its song.
It does not shout its strength
but carries it in stillness.
Wisdom, too, is silent—
a calm surface over unfathomable depths.

Stones may be thrown,
but the river does not pause to argue.
It flows on,
unmoved by ripples of noise.
Let your path be the same—
ignore the voices
that seek to hold you back.
Keep moving,
keep flowing.

A great river does not scorn the small streams,
the brooks, the springs that join its course.
It welcomes them,
grows wider, deeper, stronger.
So too, let your spirit expand,
your vision widen.
Embrace the humble,
the quiet,
the unseen.
For in unity, there is strength;
in openness, there is growth.

Rivers are the poets of the earth,
singing of resilience,
of adaptation,
of quiet power.
Listen to their song,
and let it guide you—
forward, always forward,
through every bend,
every stone,
every storm.
