The Speech Of The Lightning Poem by Tor Magnor Solvang

The Speech Of The Lightning

Sky cracks with a flash, so bright,
Then air gets hot, a burning light.
So fast it heats, a fiery streak,
The air can't wait, it has to speak.

It puffs right out, a mighty blast,
Too quick for sound, moving fast.
It breaks the rule, the speed of sound,
And makes a wave all around.

This wave, it travels, through the air,
We hear a rumble, or a flare.
If it's nearby, a sudden boom,
Like a door slammed shut in a room.

But if it's far, a distant hum,
A long, low growl, that seems to come.
The high notes fade, the low ones stay,
And echoes join, along the way.
