The State Of Australia Poem by Montgomery C

The State Of Australia

For years we've loved our sunburnt country
But now many have come to find the heat unbearable
As our eucalyptus burn
And our great reefs bleach
Our attentions turn
To the climatic impact our day-to-day actions hold
They said that my island home is waiting for me
But with rising sea levels I'm not so sure
As the water turns green
in the famous harbour I so adore
Can we return to the shade of the Coolibah tree?
We will just have to wait and see

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I have never been overly active in terms of Environmental activism, Of course I try to do my bit with re-useable bags and cutlery, But as I reflected on some of the old poetry of Australia, they reflected the Beauty of the nature, and I ponder what the Likes of Banjo Patterson and Dorothea Mackellar Australian poet would think of the Australian outback now?
