Bludgeoned and battered and corralled into silence
Uncle Sam's daughters are ensnared to compliance
Weighed down to terror from the right hand of tyranny
Living a reality worse than a horror movie
Their stalked, and their tracked with their freedoms are hounded
Their voices are culled to their wombs they are bounded
Condemned to a cell that has more stature than life
As they live retreating behind the backdoor of a knife
The old boys club owns the American dream
And the ladies are running with final girl screams
As the mockingbird chirps on the senator's perch
Watching with glee as Attwood's futures rehearsed
The killers are plotting with new bills and petitions
To slaughter your choice and reduce your ambitions
As a Mother, or daughter or an unfulfilled ghost
Called a wife without pride who's chained to her post
lady liberties laid out on a butcher's hook
Gutted and tared by blue pigged suit crooks
Wearing their values as pernicious normality
As Misogyny masked as old-fashioned morality
They'll be lining up women into valleys of steel
Pushing their backs and breaking their high Heels
Then grind them to veal or ornamental cutlets
fresh meat to behead on the downslope of progress
Get the popcorn out and watch the trauma unfold
As ladies are standing on their own alamo
Will their bodies be theirs or a carriage for men?
Who command in their god, that their will is to bend?
Hopefully not coming to a theater near you
It's the Texas Women's Rights Massacre
Rights of women have a long history of struggle. Sometimes politicians never had a heart embedded in their pen. A great poem. It takes courage to write a poem like this.
A powerful poem that cries out for the rights of women. Incisive lines that can strike the pen of the lawmakers.
