The thief on the cross
I will excitedly meet one day,
When I'm called up to heaven
And unto him this I will say.
You have never been to a Bible study
And you was never, ever baptized,
But, you made it, you made it
By the Lord your entrance was authorized.
I don't know of any of your crimes
And I don't know of your sins or bereft
But, you were judged to suffer and die
I will say that to the thief crucified on the left.
Then I hope at me he will smile
And to me I hope he will speak,
As he will tell me of his final journey
The story, I do anxiously and honestly seek.
Will he say, when he first arrived in Heaven
The Angels all say he entered the wrong place
Because, he wasn't saved and he knew not of forgiveness
And he knew not what was the doctrine of grace.
Maybe to me he will just smile and say
As he spoke to the Angels where he came from,
That the man on the middle cross looked at him and said
That into Heaven I could come.
