The Things I Don't Say Poem by Rene Bennett

The Things I Don't Say

Rating: 5.0

People ask how I'm doing
just to be kind
Not wanting the truth
so I tell them I'm fine.
I don't tell them I'm hurting
nor speak of the pain
I don't mention the tears
which pour down like rain.
We don't speak about sadness
or how my mind screams
so loud in my head
forever it seems.
Instead we just smile
as we go on our way
a sigh of relief
at the things I don't say.

I'm sorry for your loss...It's true, people ask but they don't want to hear the truth
