The Throes Of Love Poem by Edwina Reizer

The Throes Of Love

Lost in the throes of love am I
and don't know how to pray.
Shall I pray for your sweet surrender
or pray that you should stay?
To keep you here and not let you go
sometimes seems too cruel.
But I am so in love with you
that now I play the fool.

For we've shared a life that went too fast,
just like a blink of an eye.
And to keep you here imprisoned
and not allow you to fly
is a fool's dilemma I know.
But love is a strange entrapment.
We hate to let it go.

But to watch your love whose life is hell
is a scene that should not be.
And so the throes of love for anyone
is to pray for eternity.
For death is not an ending.
Never could it be.
It's a temporary separation
that takes you away from me.

Love is stronger than death, my love
and will not break its bond.
I will pray my best on every day
that permeates way beyond
the boundaries of this limited earth
and touches where you are.
I know you'll feel that love my dear
for you're my shining star.
