The Truth Poem by Uriah Hamilton

The Truth

Rating: 4.0

where the rain falls softly
in street light puddles
and music seeps out of midnight bars,
that is where I'd like to meet you again.

Saturday night musicians
with drunken songs of amorous pursuits
would make us smile and believe once more
in the possibility of love.

I've never considered you anything less
than a beautiful woman with dark eyes
that could penetrate my soul.
Age has not changed you,
desire has not left me.

Tonight...forever miles
and destinies apart,
but I don't need to reexamine my heart;
you know the truth even if we have to abandon it
to the mistakes of youth.
