The Truth About Love Poem by Mary Roach

The Truth About Love

People think love is such a treat,
but they don’t know that it’s full of defeat.

There are wars fought, battles won,
and fights are fired like a gun.

Arguments start and debates are waged.
Still people yell and most are raged.

On the outside love is great,
but inside, it is full of hate.

Thoughts of love include hearts and setting suns,
but to a lot of people, love includes anger and guns.

Abuse, neglect, sadness, and scar,
are the only thing love has been so far.

I now think twice before I give the opportunity,
for someone to break my heart and ruin me.
