The Twisted Truth Poem by Carlos Vazquez

The Twisted Truth

Rating: 3.0

Happiness is a good emotion.
Everyone looks for it, yet the sad thing is that it can quickly turn you numb.
Love is something everyone searches,
But few know how to keep it alive.
Its like a flame in the wind: if you don't protect it and take care of it,
It will die.

Sadness, however, is the one thing everyone tries to run away from.
Why? Because it is a beast that will swallow you up and fast.
Its very difficult to escape its grasp,
If you manage to succeed,
You will be crippled and infected.
Your once pure heart will be stained in darkness,
And sometimes
A war will start in your mind
And leave its scars on your body

The twisted truth is that negativity makes us feel alive.
Pain tazers us to make sure we're still fighting.
Fear prepares us from what traumatized us before.
Depression makes us see the truth behind the lies of the light;
It does that to protect us from a world that would be impossible to live in.

Ironically, its a beautiful sadness,
A bright shadow to make us enjoy life in more than one way.

Very philosophical piece of poetry, insightfully penned with conviction. The good and the bad situations at different periods in life teaches us to take things in stride. Thanks for sharing. Please read my poem MANDELA - THE IMMORTAL ICON.
