The Unquenchable Thirst Poem by Vadakkumpurath Ramesan

The Unquenchable Thirst

As the forest cried out
When its wings caught fire.
The birds abandoned the nests
The squirrels ran to ravines
The leopards, cheetahs
The king lion and king cobra
With the band of reptiles ran
From the whirlwind with fire
Where the fire-tongue licked everything.
The forest with its feet
Caught by the roots beneath
Made the final cry
Before being turned into ashes!
The birds leaped into the clouds
Where the mountain peaks
Of the dark clouds protrude
Like the cliff-like ridges
Made a haven in the heavens!
But tears swelled and rolled down
From the birds on cloud-arms
That licked the fire-tongue
With unquenchable thirst.
The thirst that see no end!

loveable and simple but emits fragrance of yesteryears...
