Mist rises over the land,
a veil of cold and ash,
where voices whisper of borders
that existed just yesterday.
Shadows drift across the fields,
cities breathe unrest,
in headlines, echoes thunder
of promises breaking under the
weight of fear.
Trains depart in silence,
faces behind glass,
eyes filled with stories
no one can tell.
Something waits everywhere-
a decision, a weapon, a word
to make the earth tremble
or the wind pause for a moment.
Europe listens,
but no longer hears itself.
