The View From The Judge's Chair - Poem by RIC BASTASA

the little boy with a gray hood
is carried by her mother to be with
his father, a detention prisoner for
murder even for a short moment while
his case is waiting to be heard,

the father caresses the boy's cheek
and then hands him again to his mother
who signals to the boy not to make
unnecessary noise....
