The Volcanic Rocks Of Kolor Poem by Francis Duggan

The Volcanic Rocks Of Kolor

A volcanic mountain of the Dreamtime is it's great claim to renown
Kolor in the Southern Grampians overlooking Penshurst Town
Centuries before Christ was crucified and that's some time ago
The local First Australians watched the red hot lava flow
Down from their beloved mountain like a burning river red and wide
From the heat it generated fires raged across the countryside
As the ever burning lava flowed onwards towards the sea
And the countryside around burned blackening every bush and tree
In the paddocks by the volcanic hills and for miles and miles around
Proof of the volcanic eruptions where volcanic rocks and stones abound
From the great force that is Nature insightful glimpses we do gain
But the wonder of her mysteries as mysteries remain
The volcanic rocks of kolor are scattered far and wide
All of the way to the Pacific across the stony Countryside.
