THE WAR THAT IS NEVER OVER

This is a poem of the sadness and the pain
Of the war that is never over
Not for us

Of the losses
So much greater than I cannot adequately write

But we are a people of the long struggle
Who have known many larger disasters

Who have now prevailed in another battle
Of the long war that seems now
Will never have an end.
