The Weight Of Sorry Poem by Mario, Lucien, Rene Odekerken

The Weight Of Sorry

It sits heavy in the throat,
a stone too large to swallow,
too sharp to spit out.
Its edges cut deeper the longer it waits.

Pride wraps around it,
a shield that feels like armor,
but it is only glass,
fragile and cold.

To say it is to stand bare,
to hand over the pieces
of your fragile humanity
and hope they are not dropped.

It carries the weight of all we've broken,
all we've left undone,
and yet,
it is the one word
that has the power to mend.
