The World Is Becoming More Multicultural Poem by Francis Duggan

The World Is Becoming More Multicultural

The World is becoming more multicultural your neighbours the people next door
Are of a different skin colour to you and they hailed from a far distant shore
But with them you do get on quite well and they are nice people to know
And they always seem happy to see you with a smile and a cheerful hello.

You've changed your views on multiculturalism you now see it as a good thing
There was a time not that long ago when the praises of such you'd not sing
You get to know people you can like them that familiarity breeds contempt is not always true
And for your embracing of multiculturalism great credit you surely are due.

We may be of different colours but red is the blood we all bleed
And for our own basic survival the food grown by Nature we need
We are all made up of ninety per cent water and we all breathe the very same air
And since you've got to know your near neighbours of such things you have become aware.

The World is becoming more multicultural we are all only twelve steps apart
And red is the blood flowing in our veins that flows to the head through the heart
He once was mistrustful of foreigners but now he does not see things that way
Since the people next door they are migrants and he sees them as quite okay.
