The World Is Dark Poem by Barry Middleton

The World Is Dark

the world looks darker
death looks brighter
yet so many look away

there is no escape
but escapism is everywhere
so many avenues to oblivion

these roads lead nowhere
diversion and distraction
are obsessions

an old man looks ahead
imagining the light
but filled with doubt

the light of paradise
he thinks may be
the sharpened edge of night

Clear message; it is all a matter of imagination; dark world, brighter death or the light of paradise
