The World Lost To Adulthood Poem by Vedanth Bhatnagar

The World Lost To Adulthood

We had something called Happiness in the days of old,
Where along the way was it replaced by pleasure?

We had something called innocence in the years that passed,
When, then, did we find guilt to treasure?

We had people we called Friends in the past,
How, then, did they become our "followers"?

We had people we called Family in the past,
What, then, made them "borrowers" (of our time) ?

We had something called Love in the past,
Why, then, did we lose it to our ego?

We had something called Trust in the past,
Where along the way did we let it go?

We had something called a Heart in the past,
When did we let our mind take over?

We had something to give to everyone in the past,
How, then, did our charitableness start to lower?

We had something called Conscience in the past,
What for did it become food (for immorality) ?

We had something called our Inner Child in the past,
Why, then, did we lose it to adulthood?
