The Writing On The Wall Poem by Ronald Strickland

The Writing On The Wall

I did not realize i was so far away. I turned around and you were gone.

I stood, and felt my feet were wet. I looked down and seen my tear drops fall.

How can one read the writing on the wall when they pay no attention at all?

Why did i not see or hear that you were no longer near?
Was it because my attention to you was absent
with my blindness to see?

Will i forever wade in my tears, and see only a smear on the wall.
Holding you from a distance as my heart weeps with regret?

The lyrics, just as free as we'll ever be,
one more dance, to erase the writing on the wall,
holding hands keeping you near.

Never turn away from you. If there is writing on the wall,
it's because our children has discovered how to surprise us all.
