View In The Mirror

Rating: 5.0

This morning and as so many morning before
I wash my face to begin my day.

As I look into the mirror I see the wrinkles
and hair that has turned gray.

I look into my eyes with a vision that had aged
was looking back at me.

I closed my eyes for a moment with thoughts
that of all the wonderful year that gave me
the wrinkles and gray

I opened my eyes to see me, as I looked
back into my eyes I was taken away.

I see me in my childhood days laughing and
playing, growing with love with thoughts of
yesterday that put a smile on my face.

I look again at my wrinkles and gray,
my thoughts of now with the love in my life
that I enjoyed as I became wrinkled and gray.

Nice plaintive soliloquy on growing old and reflecting in the mirror upon one's past.
