The Year Is Young Poem by Ruta Mohapatra

The Year Is Young

Rating: 5.0

The old Sun greeted
The bony New Year
As it emerged from the womb
Of mother old year

It is a cold, cold month
He told the baby year
And you are without a mother
Who has become yesteryear

I will help you out
With your first baby steps
As I helped many others
Who passed this way

On your little shoulder
You unconsciously bear
Many a hope and dream
Of a few billion years

For they all passed this way
Without realizing
A cherished human dream
Of heaven on this earth
