There Are Many Great People - Poem by Francis Duggan

There are many great people in the World of today
Who to help those in need of helping do go out of their way
Yet good people are not heroes of any town
Never any glory in helping the financially down
Yet recognition and praise is the last thing in the mind
Of the humble one who is selfless and compassionate and kind
And though they never does seek the credit they are due
To their higher selves the altruistic are true
Politicians, royals, sports people and celebrities in the news headlines every day
People into promotion of self in quite a big way
Yet the truly great people we never read of or hear about
Of recognition they always does seem to lose out
Not into promotion of self in any sort of a way
The unsung heroines and heroes of the Human World of today.
