There Is A Clock Ticking Poem by Barry Middleton

There Is A Clock Ticking

beneath the setting sun
a boy is quietly wishing

the dove is on its nest
a youthful bride is hoping

a call for peace awaits
as children laugh and play
.
beneath the setting sun
the wars have just begun

an old woman weeps
a man looks to the sky

beneath the setting sun
I hear the clock ticking
