There She Was Poem by Randy McClave

There She Was

There she is walking on the street
She's looking down, so no one to greet,
It's still early in the morning
Soon by others she'll get a scorning.
She's wearing the clothes that she wore the night before
The same clothes again she has wore,
And she never brushed her teeth or took a bath
As she is again walking the same path.
Everyone begins to look and then stare
As they see her ruffled clothes and messy hair,
But, to all she'll give a grin
Even though she had committed a sin.
She was not given a goodbye kiss
When from the house she was given a dismiss,
She wasn't even given a number
When she was woke up from her short slumber.
I wonder if she'll be going out again tonight
While hoping again to find her mister right,
Maybe again someone will take her home
Then the next morning she'll be told to leave and roam.
I feel so much sadness and sorrow for her
As her every night must now be a blur,
What she wants or is looking for I don't know
As she brings herself guilt, disgrace and woe.
There she is walking down the road
While people are watching in the cold,
I saw the face, but I forget her name
But, there she's stepping the walk of shame.
