These Waves Poem by Bianca Free

These Waves

Sheer and calm,

these oceans have saved many lives.

They've sheltered creatures selflessly

of all sizes and times.

Streams have drowned out fires

and cooled burnt souls.

Heaven's rain has nourished flowers.

Dried up nations, rain consoles.

Water's always fed me

when dehydration was nigh.

How is one like me

suppose to reply?

How do I thank such an entity

with something dear of mine?

My words,

The waves would not understand.

With smiling eyes and bowed head,

The river would run on by.

Perhaps a sacrifice would suffice,

so I'll throw myself to these waves.
