They Died Defending Poem by Arun Maji

They Died Defending

Rating: 5.0

Here are the remains of those
Who are brave beloved and devoted.

They died defending.

Defending what?
Country?
Or their king's greed and ego?

O yea, this is what politics is!
"One man's greed"
Must be sold as
"The country".

No matter who the king is
Poor men and women-
Still have to plough field
Still have to starve to disease and death
Still have to fight for their king (aka country)
And die.
Do they have choice?

No. Because
Even the pundits do not know
The difference
Between king and the country.

Be merciful to us O God!
We have touched Mars
Yet, we do not know
What country means.
