They Never Came For Me Poem by Randy McClave

They Never Came For Me

First they attacked the blacks,
But, I didn't care because I am white.

Then they attacked the Hispanics,
I cheered them on because they were right.

Then they went after the immigrants,
Both legal and illegal.

But, that didn't bother me at all,
Because I am a white American, I am regal.

Then they went after the poor and the needy,
I thought it was about time.

Let them starve or let them all die,
Put their destiny in their hands, and not mine.

They then went after the middle class,
They gave them all their lies, and then the axes.

I thought it better them than me,
As they hiked up my pay, and reduced my taxes.

They then went after their religions,
But, in religion or of a GodI have no faith at all.

I don't follow the teachings of no one,
So, why would I care if any religion would fall.

Then they came after their political party,
I smiled when they complained and did cry.

But, then I slowly realized,
They never came after me, and why.
