Thieves Of The Night Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Thieves Of The Night

Thieves of the night.
Wish to shine as bright as stars.
In broad daylight.
As they masquerade their shady ways.
Hoping a charading to parade it,
Does not dim, fade or become erased.
Even when the twilight has begun to chase,
A faking of their wholesomeness.
And the imitating of their deeds deceived.
To have them believed.
By those beginning to awaken and discover,
How easy it had been for them...
To ignore blemishes and flaws,
Of thieves they choose not to see.
As long as they were fed,
What they wanted to hear and digest.
From those giving image and impressions to make.
Disregarding substance.
Or lack of truth to value its origin.
Blinded are the mindless.
And weakened by thieves,
They have allowed to steal their consciousness.
As they observe this to condone and approve.
