'Things Have Changed' Poem by Sankhajit Bhattacharjee

'Things Have Changed'

'Hello, Happy Valentine's Day'!
'Who are you? I am Sruti's mom'.
'Raj'.
'Listen, don't ring in this number again.
A medical student has hardly any time for you'.
Raj failed to crack medical entrance exam.

After 10 years-

Raj just completed his PhD, rose above all.
In a party he came across Sruti-
so fatty, his hubby was good looking...
He told himself, 'Congrats'!
Sruti's mom said, 'My daughter is happy.
Where is yours...'?
'I am still unmarried'.
'This is Sruti's cousin sister, she is an engineer'.
'Mediocre. Do you think she is fit for me?
Get lost. Rubbish'.
'For your career, I did that...
You have changed'.
"Rather, 'Things Have Changed'".
