This Does Not Seem Right Poem by Francis Duggan

This Does Not Seem Right

In some of the known prosperous Countries in the World millions in extreme poverty
And many poor people in prison for minor offenses how wrong this seems to be
People who are punished for being poor is how it seems to me
Of racism and inequality the Human World may never be free
Poverty is even at varying degrees
In a World of millions of homeless people and Stateless refugees
The gap between the wealthy and the poor keeps on growing by the day
In a fair Human World it would not be this way
And though losing is a thing anyone does not choose
For one to win big many do have to lose
So many poor people in the World doing it tough
Hungry and homeless, living and sleeping rough
So many do not have a bed to sleep in tonight
In the twenty first century this does not seem right.
