This Generation

Psp’s, Mobile Phones, Oyster cards,
Tony Blair you silly git.
War of the Worlds,
Tom Cruise doesn’t seem such an actor now.
I’ll make this personal now,

Thank you Daddy, for being there everyday,
Showing me how to ride a bike,
Telling me to ‘take care’ on my very first date,
Sitting with me on my 18th Birthday, saying how proud you of me.

Thank you Mommy for smiling everyday,
Showing what happy families really could be,
You outlook gave me optimism,
How could a man not fall for such tranquillity?

Thank you Brother for taking care of me,
Your ‘big brother’
instinct never faltered,
Protecting me and destroying anything
That looked harmful to
your darling sister.

Thank you Boyfriend for loving me so,
Treating me as royalty,
Promising never to tear my heart in two,
Our story would have a ‘happy ending’

Thank you life for teaching me thousands of lessons,
It taught me forgiving hurty confessions,
Thank you also for teaching me how to lie
I have gotten that good now I can lie in poetry.
