This Spring Has Been Three Days Old At The Cat Paradise Poem by NHIEN NGUYEN MD

Today is Friday, March the twenty third
Snow storm Toby arrived three days ago.
This Spring has been also three days old
But thick blanket of snow still covers my front and back yards.
Under amber sunlight, white clouds and the blue sky
White snow covers house roofs, and pool brown benches.
On a big mulberry tree, there is no squirrel to see
A red robin perches on this tree then it flies away quickly.
There are few crows on a tree top at the end of my back yard
They perch there and caw their friends to meet.
Purple flower buds cover my maple tree twigs
These buds will be ready to bloom their Spring in one week.
White pines stretch their long branches to bask in amber sunlight.
Koi pond waterfalls glitter as bright sun shines on them.
Ice and snow in my Koi pond already melted
But water is too cold, so fish stay at the deep pond bottom.
Thick snow banks sit around pond edges
From a snow-covered rose garden, Monkey* jumped over pool fence
Black-Pearl* creeps carefully around my house
He places his paws carefully to avoid them from getting wet.
From my house to a nearby evergreen hedge
He steps on the same old footprints on the way out and back.
Behind my house and near the swimming pool
Other cats bask in the sun, while wagging their tails or watching the sky.

MÙA XUÂN TUỔI ĐÃ BA NGÀY Ở CAT PARADISE

Tháng Ba, thứ Sáu, hăm ba
Tuyết Toby đã ba ngày ở đây
Mùa Xuân tuổi cũng ba ngày
Tuyết dầy còn phủ sân nhà trước sau.
Nắng vàng, mây trắng, trời xanh
Mái nhà tuyết trắng, băng nâu tuyết nằm.
Cây dâu chẳng thấy sóc đâu
Cardinal đỏ đậu cành rồi bay.
Cuối sân, vất vưởng cành cao
Vài con qụa tới, kêu nhau họp đàn.
Cây phong nụ tím đầy cành
Chỉ một tuần nữa nụ này nở Xuân.
Cành thông ôm nắng xoải dài
Hồ Koi thác chảy, nắng vàng long lanh.
Hồ Koi, tuyết đá vừa tan
Nước hồ còn lạnh, cá nằm dưới sâu.
Bờ hồ tuyết trắng ngồi cao
Vườn hồng tuyết phủ, Monkey* nhảy rào.
BlackPearl* rón rén quanh nhà
Nhẹ nhàng đặt bước tránh làm ướt chân.
Từ nhà cho tới rào xanh
Đi, về mèo chỉ đặt chân lối mòn.
Sau nhà gần chỗ hồ bơi
Mấy mèo sưởi nắng, vẫy đuôi, nhìn trời.
