This Week It Happened In Spain Poem by Francis Duggan

This Week It Happened In Spain

Rating: 0.5

The deliberate slaughtering of people is happening again and again
Last week it happened in Iraq and this week it's happened in Spain
And next week in some other City more people through violence will die
And some people consumed by hatred and for what I ask myself why?

Do they take their anger out on people they do not know or who never did them wrong?
It's even too hard to imagine how hatred in some is so strong
For their so called beliefs they target people and explode their bombs in a train
That is packed with workbound commuters from their shameful deed nothing for them to gain.

Have these people got spouses and children and how would they feel if somebody put a bomb in their house
And left their belongings in rubble and murdered their children and spouse
Would they say it was in a good cause that their beloved family had died
And their home was beyond repairing and all of their life dreams were destroyed?

Of course they would grieve for their family though for others they lack in sympathy
They live in their own selfish World a World without empathy
Those they've murdered are beyond all suffering the grief with their families remain
It's happened in Palestine last week and this week it's happened in Spain.

I feel for the mothers of those who commit such atrocities their cross of shame so hard to bear
It's hardly their fault they raised such bad children though little in life do seem fair
The world would be much better without them they cannot be rational or sane
Last week it happened in Kabul and this week in Madrid in Spain.
