Those Words - Poem by Curry Bascue

What have you done…
I never showed you,
Did I?
The past,
Those words,
That pain…
To hear those words come from your face,
Someone I hold so dear to my heart…
It burns me so deep…
Those words,
Those broken bridges.
That tossed me into a sea of darkness and broken dreams!
Why did you say that…
I’ve watched time after time those words,
Breathe death and destruction into my life!
Past even that,
Slowly creeping into my dreams and subconscious.
And they return.
Dear God why have these words come from her face?
From her…
Was she not your gift to me?
I can see the words in my head,
And they pain me so!
Those two,
They created the pain of these words,
The sadness and sorrow buried under my surface,
I’d do anything to save her from my pain.
But what can one do when she dealt the blow…
Let time heal these wounds,
Because God knows…
The memory never fades.
