Till Sunrise Poem by Barry Middleton

Till Sunrise

There's a long long road till sunrise,
with a man so deep in the muck.
I can't sleep at night,
all I do is fight,
with the pillows, ‘cause I'm out of luck.

Now I can't blame it on a woman.
She left me so very long ago.
I guess it must be me,
so I will wait and see,
as I tell you my sad tale of woe.

When the sun comes up tomorrow,
I‘ll be brave, and face another day,
figure out what's wrong,
and write another song,
on the object of my dismay.

Now the sun is finally rising.
Where'd I put my old worn out shoes?
Yes it's time to get on up,
put a beer in my coffee cup,
cop a buzz, walk the dog, fight the blues.

There's a long long road till sunrise,
with a man so deep in the muck.
I can't sleep at night,
all I do is fight,
with the pillows, ‘cause I'm out of luck.
