Time Capsule Poem by G J Salgado

Time Capsule

I see you looking at me through the hourglass
As time slowly fades away from us
So many years have floated behind
Making where we are now more valuable
It locks everything we know in a time capsule
Takes us back years as if it were yesterday
I remembered you like you remember me
Who knows what would have been
What might have become of us all
If things in that time were different
No need to rearrange our lives now
Cherish each other for the times we missed
It has brought us to who we are meant to be
That's all that really matters for us all
For days we can't replace
Or the hurt and hard lessons we can't erase
We'll have this moment without return
As today we make new memories
And this time will also become a part of the past
In the new moments that we share for the future
I'm glad that I saw you today, after all this time
Although it marked a tragedy and painful loss
Our childhood will always hold us together
The new moments we create from today
Will never be taken for granted nor will they fade away
Treasured in our souls forever
You are always upon my mind
As well as within my heart
