Tin Man Poem by Richard D Remler

Tin Man

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have disallowed tears.
They simply cause rust.
My words, they are hollow,
The value of dust.
I'll not wear out my welcome.
I will simply walk by.
You'll say your 'so long, '
To my meaningless 'hi.'
There will be no tall road signs.
No billboards.No lies.
I cannot allow the
Advent of surprise.
I am the shell of a shell.
I am a shadow, and less.
I am that haunt of an echo
Trapped inside nothingness.
I cannot feel your sorrow,
For I haven't a heart.
Nor your jealousies, or your anguish.
Where would I start?
I cannot feel your love,
Your kindness, your sin.
I am the ghost of a ghost.
There is nothing within.
I am less than a whisper,
A shadow unseen.
I am but a Tin Man.
Just a broken machine.
