.................
The clouds are thick with wonder here,
And dance across my sky.
I've never seen such twilight
Amble ever softly by.
Of course, there are no stars tonight
In this shroud of blue and white.
The cornfields lay so barren here
In this dark and twisting light.
A wind cold as abandon,
Breathes a frost so cruely blued,
And sweeps in through these empty trees
To mock the gentle solitude.
And it whispers empty promises
That tease and toy and taunt,
The bitter dark and nothingness
Inside this echo of a haunt.
And the branches crick under the weight
Of snow I cannot see,
And somewhere in the drifting blue
Tomorrow calls to me,
A voice so sad and soft as silk,
Sailing on the morrows wings,
Whispered so I almost miss
The melody she sings-
And as I am less than nothing,
Small as any speck of clay,
I listen to her song tonight,
Before she drifts away.
And I drink in all her beauty
And marvel all the more,
As the snows echo with a thunder
I have never heard before.

Nice. I especially like the line 'Tomorrow calls to me'. For some reason, that phrase is extremely pleasing.
wonderfully delineated the thunder- it whispers empty promises That tease and toy and taunt, The bitter dark and nothingness Inside this echo of a haunt./// beautiful poem

An irresistible lyric about the clouds at twilight-a time of day which appeals to me. Well constructed quatrains too.
