To Poem by Rita Shay

To

Here's to wishing that no more jobs will be lost.
That everyone will get a little something on Valentines' Day,
That birthday will not go forgotten,
That cookies will no longer burn.
That people will be kind.
So that people speak the truth to your face
And that they know how to love and how to grow.
That wars would be no more.
That all religions, races, forms of marriage, we could coexist.
That no more people sit in front of the television on Friday nights.
That bones and hearts would not break.
That pimples would never appear between eyes,
That we would all be and feel beautiful.
And maybe know how to see what is right in front of us.
That we will laugh at least 3 times a day.
And that good songs will always be on the radio.
Their would be no disease, physical or mental.
That money would not be the first thing on our minds.
This dream, this toast, I wish so deeply and dearly
Is something out of this world,
That only death and a new eternal begging will ever bring.
